What a platform's built-in AI gives you — and what it doesn't

Most platforms now ship some built-in AI. It is worth being precise about where that stops, because it is the gap every control on this page is built to fill.

Typical built-in AI menu (for example, the sparkle button in a standard content editor) compared with the Rana AI Mentor controls.
  Built-in AI Rana AI Mentor
What it does Four generic one-shot actions: summarise, explain, generate text, generate image. Thirteen purpose-built controls, including coaching, roleplay, graded practice and voice.
Where it lives Inside the editor toolbar. The reader never sees it — only the author does. Embedded in the page itself, so the end user interacts with it directly.
Conversation One shot. No memory, no follow-up, no back-and-forth. Multi-turn where it matters, with threaded context across turns.
Grounding Works on whatever text you selected, and nothing else. Reads the page, a pasted document, a URL, or your own database.
Choice of model Whatever the vendor wired in. Usually one model, not disclosed. Routed per request to the cheapest model that clears the quality bar for that task.
Cost visibility None. Consumption is invisible until the invoice. Model, tokens in and out, and the cost of each call, shown on demand.
Spend control Usually a flat per-seat licence, with no per-user or per-team limits. Budget caps by company, department and individual, enforced before the call is made.
Quality assurance None. A poor answer costs the same as a good one. Every answer graded; a failing answer is retried on a stronger model and not billed.

The two are not mutually exclusive — they run side by side happily, and seeing them next to each other is usually the fastest way to feel the difference.
